Prime Minister, Dr. Ahmed Nazif, chaired
the 87th meeting of the Cabinet of Minister to discuss external and internal
issues.
The Cabinet congratulated President
Mubarak for arriving back home safely after his treatment trip in Germany that
ended up successfully. Dr. Nazif stated that President Mubarak will start his
activities during the few coming days. The meeting congratulated Christians
over the Easter Day. On the other hand, the cabinet criticized what is
witnessed in shows of some satellites channels which are totally away from the
moral value. In this concern, the Ministry of Information will activate the
role of the media performance evaluation to ensure compliance to the moral
standards commitment
Regarding the external relations, the
meeting reviewed a report on the 3rd Investment Forum of COMESA
countries hosted by Egypt
in Sharm El-Sheikh.
The Cabinet expressed condolences over the
death of the Polish President and many other leading figures upon a plan's
crash during this week. They discussed a report on the Sudanese elections
situation and wished them success aiming to achieve stability and peace in Sudan. The
report included the Nuclear Security Summit held in Washington.
The Minister of Water Resources, Mohamed
Nasr El-Din Allam, presented a report on the Nile Basin Countries Meeting held
in Sharm El-Sheikh over the last two days.
Regarding the government programmes, the
Minister of Petroleum Eng. Sameh Fahmy introduced a report on the petroleum
sector performance and its role in providing energy needed for the development
process as well as the future challenges. The report included the sector's role
over the current period as well as the indicators during 1989/90 –
2009/2010.
