Prime Minister, Dr. Ahmed Nazif, chaired a meeting to review the development plan of roads surrounding Greater Cairo especially the northwest and southwest sides. The meeting also discussed means to coordinate between various corridors of these roads aiming to unite the ring roads network which surrounds Greater Cairo.
The meeting was attended by the Minister of Housing; Eng. Ahmed El-Maghraby, Minister of Transport; Eng. Alaa Fahmy, Head of the Urban Communities Authority and Head of the Roads and Bridges Authority.
The meeting covered the following;
• Studying the development of the regional ring road to be linked with the desert road at El-Sadat City entrance.
• Studying the development of Roud El-Farg corridor and the point it meets the desert road to be extended as a ring road surrounding 6th October and El-Sheikh Zayed cities.
• Studying the development of 26th July corridor and the point it meets the ring road to be linked to Roud El-Farg corridor in a parallel road. This would help facilitating traffic movement outside Cairo.
• Studying the re-planning of El-Remayia Square aiming to reduce the traffic movement in the Great Museum area.
• Linking Assuit western road with the desert road in away facilitating traffic movement at Al-Haram entrance.
Dr. Nazif confirmed the importance of following the global standards within the free zones establishment, something which would achieve quantum leap in transport in Egypt.
