Prime Minister, Dr. Ahmed Nazif, received the Ambassador of Burundi to Egypt on the occasion of ending his 4-years duty.
During the meeting, the Ambassador expressed his appreciation toward support provided by officials during his duty period, something which contributed in giving push to the excellent relations enjoyed by both countries. He confirmed that the Egyptian-Burundian bilateral relations witnessed accelerating growth in the current phase, and positively reflected on development achievement taking into consideration Egypt's pioneer role in the African Continent.
The prime minister expressed his thanks to the Burundian political leadership, president, government, and people and congratulated them over the new government,
Dr. Nazif confirmed Egypt's continuous support to the development process showed in the high level visits paid to Burundi recently; including visits of Ministers of International Cooperation and Finance. Egypt is keen on developing the mutual cooperation with Burundi to help it benefiting from the technical cooperation through the African Fund for Technical Cooperation, Dr. Nazif added. The Ambassador praised technical aids provided by Egypt particularly in the health sector.
From another side, the prime minister expressed his appreciation over rational and supported stances taken by Burundi within the Nile Basin Initiative, confirming Egypt's keenness on pushing and developing cooperation with the initiative countries, as well as signing a framework agreement which contributed in achieving interests for all parties. In this concern, he assured the necessity of reaching agreement among all countries without making divisions, besides achieving solidarity to attain a real development leap through a fruitful cooperation.
