Within the framework of achieving coordination to continue providing food supplies listed in the supply cards, Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Nazif chaired a meeting today in attendance of Ministers of Trade and Industry, Social Solidarity, Water Resources and Irrigation, and three reports were presented in this concern.
The Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, Dr. Mohamed Nasr Al-Din, presented a report on the success of government policies enforced to set measures related to rice planting, represented in achieving balance between rice production and fulfillment of local market needs along with providing 3,5 million m2 of water. The minister added that such policies contributed in providing water needed to solve water congestion in some important canals such as Al-Nubaryia and Al-Hamam. Policies also succeeded in achieving more efficiency in the project of some canals and sub-canals maintenance, EGP 800 million was allocated for such project. The project helped in resolving the problem of water at the canals' ends especially those existed in Fayoum and Kafr El-Sheikh governorates.
The report presented by the Minister of Social Solidarity, Dr. Ali Al-Meslhy, included number of families benefited from the new supply cards amounting to 11 million persons; serving 63,5 million individual. He stated that the Supply Goods Authority has enough food supply for the coming months.
From his side, the Minister of Trade and Industry Eng. Rachid Mohamed Rachid confirmed that the ministry will work during the coming period to guarantee the provision of food supply with good quality.
