Prime Minister, Dr. Ahmed Nazif, heads the Egyptian delegation in the 15th African Summit to be held in Kampala, on behalf of President Hosni Mubarak. The summit will be opened on Sunday in attendance of heads and presidents of 53 African countries.
The summit will focus on means to enhance the maternal, infant and child health, and development in Africa within commitment announced by heads of states and governments since the Millennium Summit in 2000, ending by Abuja Call in 2006. The summit will tackle the effective measures that shall be taken to reduce the death of mothers, infants and children, as well as achieving the millennium development goals. Exchanging experiences between presidents of states and governments on the successful practices will be carried in the summit, along with discussing the impact of nutrition, food and sanitation on mothers, infants and children. The summit will cover means to stop HIV transmission from mother to child, and to improve management in the health sector, monitoring mechanism and evaluation.
Various political issues in the African Continent will be tackled, besides the peaceful means to settle dispute, as well as the economic cooperation and infrastructure issues, aiming at facilitating trade and enlarge dealing with the outer world.
The prime minister's accompanied delegation will include Ministers of International Cooperation, Foreign Affairs and Health.
The prime minister will hold bilateral meetings with the delegations' heads participating in the summit, topped by the Ugandan President. The prime minister holds a written message from President Mubarak to the Ugandan President concerning the bilateral cooperation development between both countries, as well as the Nile Basin issue.
